Thank you for your letter of the 31st July
enclosing a copy of the Report on the Trade Depression
in Hongkong. I feel it difficult to believe that the
Canadian Prairies can be so dull that I shall find such
a report of use except as a soporific. But I will regard
it as my duty to look it through in order to educate myself a little about the special difficulties of Hongkong.
I shall also try and get to Hongkong on my
return voyage, if not before, and you might, if you think fit, let the authorities there know of my intention so that
I am not treated as an intruder.
